Arkin grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In 1999 he received his MBA from BYU with an emphasis in marketing, and entered the magazine publishing industry in sales. After working for Utah Business Magazine as an Advertising Director, and at Wasatch Digital iQ as the Publisher, Arkin founded Lumin Publishing in February 2003. Lumin publishes Connect magazine, a regional business publication, and Community magazine, a publication sent out to Zions Bank upper-level account holders. Lumin Publishing has won numerous awards, including five national “Maggie” awards for magazine design and editorial, three Golden Spike awards for excellence in marketing communications in Utah, and a Best of State in 2005 and 2006 in the printing/publishing category. Arkin married Jenny Miller from Taylorsville, Utah in 1994. They are the parents of six children–four boys and two girls. They live in West Jordan, Utah.
